Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
General Questions
1. What is Virgin Islands Yacht Broker’s auction platform?
Our auction platform allows you to bid on luxury yachts and catamarans available in the Caribbean. Through this platform, you can secure premium vessels at competitive prices in a transparent and efficient auction process.
2. How does the auction process work?
Bidders compete by placing bids on yachts listed in our auction section. The highest bid at the end of the auction period wins the vessel, provided any reserve price is met. Full instructions for bidding can be found on our Bidding instructions page.
Bidding & Registration
3. Do I need an account to place a bid?
Yes, you must create an account or log in to place a bid. This is to ensure secure transactions and maintain a record of your bidding activity.
4. Is there a minimum bid required?
Each auction may have a starting bid, which is the minimum amount you can bid. Bid increments are displayed to show the minimum increase required for subsequent bids.
5. How do I know if I’ve been outbid?
You’ll receive an email notification if someone places a higher bid than yours, allowing you to return and increase your bid before the auction ends.
Payments & Security
6. Is my payment information secure?
Yes, our platform uses secure checkout through WooCommerce, which ensures that all transactions are encrypted and securely processed.
7. What is a reserve price?
The reserve price is the minimum amount the seller is willing to accept for the yacht. If the highest bid does not meet the reserve price, the sale may not proceed.
8. What payment methods are accepted?
We accept various payment methods, including credit cards and wire transfers. Details will be provided to the winning bidder to finalize the transaction. Deposits of 10% can be paid by credit card or Paypal securely.
Inspection & Shipping
9. Can I inspect the yacht before bidding?
Yes, we encourage buyers to arrange an inspection. You can contact us for details on how to schedule an inspection for any yacht listed in the auction.
10. What about transportation or shipping of the yacht?
Transportation is the buyer’s responsibility, though we can connect you with reputable shipping and logistics providers upon request. We recommend organizing transportation arrangements in advance to ensure a smooth transition.
Other Concerns
11. What happens if I win an auction but can’t complete the purchase?
Winning an auction is a binding commitment. If you are unable to complete the transaction, you may be subject to penalties, and your account may be restricted from participating in future auctions.
12. Is there a warranty or guarantee on the yachts?
All yachts are sold “as-is” unless otherwise stated in the listing. We recommend thoroughly inspecting the yacht or arranging a professional survey before bidding.
13. What if I’m new to bidding on yachts?
